Friday, November 15 - "Which Other Countries Are Hiring?"

Happy Friday!

Here’s what’s on the job description for today:

  1. New roles from a rapidly growing company competing against Google ratings and doing shockingly well.

  2. Haru asks, “I’m over looking for roles in my current country. Can you tell me which other countries are hiring?”

“Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.”

TODAY’S QUESTION

Haru asks, “I’m over looking for roles in my current country. Can you tell me which other countries are hiring?”

Recommendation: I completely get where you’re coming from - some major cities are so brutal right now it can get exhausting. Here is where I’d look:

  • To keep things simple, here is the list of countries outside of both UK and USA (as those are where lots of people look and are painfully competitive atm):

    1. Dubai - positives include low taxes, a very modern city, and a well built infrastructure for sponsoring visas. Here is their most well-known job board for foreigners.

    2. Germany - very open to foreigners with many big cities that each have offices from many of the most well-known companies. Germany is also in the heart of continental Europe, making it great for travelers. Here is a job board used by expats and locals.

    3. Netherlands - more than just Amsterdam, the country has been very open to outsiders in recent years and has among the highest qualities of life on the list. They have about 17 confusing languages so here is an English only job board (the UX is best on full screen on a desktop).

    4. Honorable mentions:

      1. Canada - my home country has had a change of heart recently towards foreign born workers. In the coming months and years, it is likely rules will be making it more difficult to find opportunities here.

      2. Finland - Among the Scandinavians, this is one of the more open countries but difficult languages and a smaller economy keep it off the main list.

      3. France - a beautiful country with a big economy and bustling start-up world, they do prefer French speakers over English which makes it challenging for the majority of candidates.

Conclusion:

No conclusion today - maybe just be good to the next person you see. Have a great weekend too!
