Friday, March 14 - "When Will Things Get Better?"

Happy Friday!

Here’s what’s on the job description for today:

  1. New roles from an up-and-coming player in hydrogen energy.

  2. Today’s Question: “I’m so exhausted by looking for new roles. When will the job market improve?”

“Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Don’t wish it were easier; wish you were better.”

- Jim Rohn, business philosopher

IN HIRING

Supercritical

  • A company aiming to play a key part in the move towards sustainability, Supercritical focused on hydrogen power.

  • The company is small but growing FAST. They’re currently scaling so quickly that this I would regard this company as a challenging one to work at - be aware that it will not have the infrastructure of a larger company.

  • Here are a few of the most interesting roles available

TODAY’S QUESTION

Today’s Question: “I’m so exhausted by looking for new roles. When will the job market improve?”

Recommendation: this is the question I ask myself every few weeks. Here are my thoughts:

  • First, there are some positives that I’ve observed this year.

    • One of those is consulting where hiring was completely frozen at points last year has seen a thawing. I will say it’s still mainly frozen but there are bright spots.

    • The issue is that there have been years of continued hardship in the hiring environment and LinkedIn continues to remind me that people are being laid off at high rates so there is a lot of supply in the market.

  • Second, I am hopeful that geopolitics is beginning to relax (Trump, if you’re reading this - please no tarrifs!)

    • Wars are beginning to slow or discuss endings and interest rates look like they’re heading in the right direction.

    • If this continues, I believe we could see a lot more positivity in the business community.

  • Finally, my main thought is that whatever trends are currently happening in the market will take months or years to play out and if you’re reading this, you probably want a more immediate change.

    • No matter what happens, I continue to believe that the actions that worked in the past work now, although at a lower conversion rate.

    • Those I see get roles quickly are the ones networking with companies they interview at, alter their resume to provide the most relevant highlights of themselves, and live a healthy lifestyle where they have the energy to persist when things get difficult.

Conclusion:

Not the rosiest of things to end on but the market sucks. It doesn’t mean you and others won’t get offers.

Have a great weekend,

Adam
