Accomplish More. Juggle Less.
Your business is growing, and so are your responsibilities. So what do you do?
You do more.
You see a chance to expand your reach and increase your impact.
You do more.
You take on more hours, juggle more deadlines, and wear more hats. You miss a ball game here and there. Come home late a few more nights. You spend a holiday or two in your inbox. And you tell yourself,
This season just requires more.
But what if growing your business isn’t about doing more things — but instead doing the right things?
What if you could enjoy the holidays this year knowing that someone else is handling the “more”?

TODAY’S QUESTION
Maddy asks, “I passed an interview but now have an assessment. What can I do to pass this round?”
Recommendation: assessments are a big time commitment and usually those that make it through are only one more meeting (maximum) from getting an offer. Here’s how I’d make sure that time spent is worth it.
First, focus on understanding the expectations. What questions were asked, what tools do they want you to use, what is said online about these assessments (glassdoor.com) and what are you meant to present or send to them.
Slow down at this section as many candidates read the email or prompt once and are so excited to get started that they miss key points. There is a certain level of pain in finding out you didn’t make it through because you misunderstood the assignment.
Second, go through and do the analysis or research that is required. This is pretty time consuming and the one error I see frequently here is silly mistakes. Take an extra minute or two to double check your formulas, spelling, and sense check whether final numbers or answers actually make sense.
Finally, focus on telling a story.
If you’re meant to submit an email with your work, explain the answers in a way that tells a story from beginning to end. It’s an important way to stand out among the others who are answering the same questions with the same tools available.
If its a PowerPoint presentation, create an overlay story that follows the presentation. An example I saw once was a person who LOVED Lego showed how she would implement a project, following the steps to building a Lego set. It was a unique way to make it personal.
Conclusion:
Assessments are a big expenditure of time - make sure it’s worth the effort and time you put in.
