Monday, September 2 - "Will This Month be Better?"
Good morning!
September has begun! We are now entering an exciting time in hiring.
Here’s what’s on the job description for today:
New roles from on of a mid-level consulting firm hiring globally (crazy, right?).
James asks, “August sucked for me. I didn’t get many interviews and networking was brutal. Will September be any better?”
“You can get excited and feel unstoppable, but every week presents a new challenge. Each week, you have to work and get better.”

TODAY’S QUESTION
James asks, “August sucked for me. I didn’t get many interviews and networking was brutal. Will September be any better?”
We are entering the golden months of hiring but the distribution of success will not be granted equally.
Recommendation: Here’s how to set yourself up for success in September:
First, the next few months are paramount to anyone looking for a role. The worst thing you can do is go too hard in the next 10 days and burn out. Setup some daily habits to ensure you can stay consistent.
I personally use a habit tracker on my phone and even paid for an app. I’m not affiliated but I have been using it for a few years and truly believe in it
Second, if you struggled a lot in August, it’s worth finding out why. If you weren’t applying enough, get a schedule and some healthier habits in terms of food, outside, exercise, etc.
If you applied a lot, check your resume. Feel free to send it to me but if you don’t, here are the main things I’d look for:
Spelling/grammar
Relevance to the role
Outcomes for each bullet
No obvious formatting errors
Finally, go back and check in with anyone who referred you, talked to you about a role, or did anything that might be able to help now.
Start by thanking them for their previous help and ask for a coffee chat or quick phone call. Get talking and let them know what you’re working on.
Conclusion:
This next 30-90 days is going to be electric for hiring and I’m excited. Just ensure you set yourself up for success.
