Jo asks, “I’m quite open to which country I work in but which countries should I focus on?”

Most candidates are quite open to roles in other countries but it’s worth noting that some countries are more open to candidates than others.

Recommendation: If you’re considering working in other countries, there are three aspects that you want to focus on:

  • First, which countries welcome you with open arms? You’ll need to consider which countries have the infrastructure for simple visa processes vs which are the most challenging.

    • This website shows some of the easiest countries where it easiest to gain access to a work visa.

    • I would add the Netherlands to this list as they have a 1-year visa for those that are looking for work. Some rules apply, which you can find here.

  • The second is around culture and language. Many candidates want to work in the UK, Canada, or USA because the level of English is high and the cultures are more open to foreign workers. Try to be open minded to locations such as Dubai, Saudi Arabia, or eastern Europe where cultures are much different but are slowly opening to foreigners.

  • Finally, and most importantly, there needs to be a job that

If you keep things stagnant for too long, the outcomes will start to rule your life mood and the ability to keep going. Change things up every few weeks to keep it fresh and interesting.
